Professor Dimos Dimitrios Mitsikostas - MD, PhD, FEAN, is a neurologist with an international academic career (Harvard, UCL) and expertise in multiple sclerosis, neuroimmunology, headache disorders, and acute stroke management. Professor Dimos-Dimitrios Mitsikostas graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1985) and completed his Neurology residency at the Aeginition Hospital, NKUA (1989–1994). He obtained his PhD in Neuropharmacology from NKUA, focusing on pain neurotransmission, and pursued post-doctoral research at Harvard Medical School (1996–1998) and University College London (2000–2001) in the molecular pharmacology of headache pain.
From 2005 to 2016, he served as Director of the Neurology Department at the Naval Hospital of Athens. Since 2016, he has been with the Aeginition Hospital, NKUA, where he leads the Emergency & General Neurology Unit (including the Acute Stroke Unit) and the Specialized Headache Outpatient Clinic.
At Affidea neuraCare, he is the Head of the Multiple Sclerosis & Neuroimmunology Department. He also supervises doctoral theses, teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students at NKUA and international universities, and acts as Principal Investigator in phase II–IV clinical trials on headache and MS.
